Sockeye:Run has failed to live up to pre-season forecasts of 2 million. Escapement to Aug22 is at approx 859,000. Average from 1980-2000 is 1,243,257
Announcement of no further gillnet opportunities on north coast as of Aug.13.
First Nations food fishery continuing. Recreational sockeye fishery also still open.
Projected total return now just less than 1 million.
Nass Sockeye:
Also tracking below the pre-season forecast return of 511,000. Up to Aug.11 escapement was 240,482. Target is 268,720. 1991-2000 Average is 286,135
